BTS Announces Official Period Of Rest For Members

12 August 2019

Since making their debut, they've been number one on iTunes in over 65 countries, have got nearly 12 million subscribers on YouTube and are the first K-pop band EVER to top the United States album charts. "It will also be time (for them) to enjoy the life as ordinary young men in their 20s".

On Twitter, many BTS fans - who call themselves ARMY - said the boys deserved the hard-earned break.

"This period of rest will be an opportunity for the members of BTS, who have relentlessly driven themselves towards their goal since their debut, to recharge and prepare to present themselves anew as musicians and creators", the statement continued.

It added: "If you run into BTS at an unexpected place, we ask for the fans' consideration to allow the members to enjoy their private time".

The group's agency, Big Hit Entertainment, confirmed the news in a statement.

The band's management company, Big Hit Entertainment, announced in a statement on Twitter that members would be taking "an official and extended period of rest and relaxation".

With the band's Love Yourself campaign and the UN Speak Yourself speech a year ago, BTS has mobilised their millions of ARMY fans worldwide, to empower young people around the world.

"Hello. This is Big Hit Entertainment".

The break kicked off the same day following the band's performance at the 2019 Lotte Duty Free Family Concert earlier in the day.

BTS will return refreshed and recharged to return all the love you have and continue to show them.

South Korean performers such as Psy - whose 2012 hit Gangnam Style became the first video to top a billion views on YouTube - have previously broken into Western markets, but none have achieved BTS' sustained success.

When one fan tweeted, "do you think bts is coming back after their vacation? or do you think they'll break up...", others pointed out that they signed a contract for seven years so they will definitely be back.

It is not clear how long the break will last.
