The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan - Multiplayer Reveal Trailer

12 July 2019

The first of the two modes, "Shared Story", will be played out online.

The second mode is known as "Movie Night", which is a mode built for couch co-op. Each of these titles will have similar gameplay to Until Dawn and while they each will tell stand-alone stories every character you control will have the chance to live or die based on your decisions. The party will also get a summary on how each player is now faring. Each game in the anthology will focus on a different story with original characters with Man of Medan being the first of many games planned for the series. This isn't the first time that Supermassive Games has toyed with multiplayer ideas as their earlier title Hidden Agenda used the PlayLink system for PlayStation 4 to allow multiple players to make decisions. According to Samuels, this "has thrown up some interesting design challenges - the most significant of which was in the two-player Shared Story, and how to have both players enjoy a great story when they each see different things and neither sees everything".

BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment has announced that there will be multiplayer options in the upcoming adventure game, The Dark Pictures Anthology - Man Of Medan.

The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan comes to Windows, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 on August 30, 2019. With the success of Until Dawn's teen slasher-fest, Supermassive Games will tackle other sub-genres to keep players on their toes. Of course, all of the games in The Dark Pictures Anthology will be playable alone.

The Fan Carpet and The Killer Spotlight's Jonathan Hughes was in attendance at the Preview event for The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan. The game takes place on a ghost ship in the South Pacific Ocean, where a group of American vacationers find themselves stalked by a malevolent presence that haunts the vessel.

Man of Medan multiplayer will be available in two distinct forms, developer Supermassive has today confirmed.
