Omar's tweets were a response to Carlson's rant at the end of his show Tuesday in which he called her "living proof that the way we practice immigration has become unsafe to this country" and suggested she should've never been allowed into the country.
Omar, who emigrated from Somalia to the U.S.as a child, laughed at Carlson's screed.
"Maybe that's our fault for asking too little of our immigrants, we aren't self confident enough to make them assimilate so they never feel fully American", he continued.
'The details might not have all matched, but that's what I remember, ' the first hibjab-wearing US congresswoman said. "Is her adherence to this Islamic doctrine indicative of her adherence to Sharia law, which in itself is antithetical to the United States Constitution?"
In response to Carlson, Omar tweeted that it was "kinda fun watching a racist fool like this weeping about my presence in Congress".
Appearing before a crowd of Richfield High School students, Omar recalled how five years prior, she was working for a Minneapolis city councilman and was tasked with documenting problems with the courts.
Rep. Ilhan Omar admitted that she may have embellished part of the story she told to high school students in an apparent attempt to showcase racial and economic disparities in the country. "But she isn't grateful. she hates this country more than ever". Omar is also one of just two Muslim women serving in Congress, the other being fellow freshmen progressive Democratic Representative Rashida Tlaib of MI.
Last month, Omar tweeted that on average 500 people are killed from gun violence each day in the United States as she tried to push a bill on background checks for firearm sales. In addition to receiving death threats, she's been accused of anti-Semitism from politicians on both sides of the aisle, targeted via Twitter by President Donald Trump and villainized by the New York Post.
Carlson, who joined Fox in 2009, has a history of making misogynistic and racist comments. The woman convicted of the crime "might have had a prior [arrest]", Omar said. Instead, it was the country that had failed to live up to its founding ideals, a place that had disappointed her and so many immigrants, refugees and minorities like her.
'This is an immoral country, ' she says.
"Patetico! You know they're just salty about World Health Organization is wielding the power to shift "public sentiment" these days, sis", Omar tweeted.
"I truly believe he is a racist fool who is quite weeping about the fact that we have an African born member of Congress, the kind of people, the likes of him, come from s-hole countries and the fact he doesn't get the opportunity to ban me from this country and now he gets to call me a Congresswoman. A system created to strengthen America is instead undermining it". She's a living fire alarm.
