Trailer for The Shining sequel will keep you up at night

14 June 2019

It's been almost 40 years since Stephen King's chilling tale of isolation, haunting and madness hit the big screen with the Stanley Kubrick-directed masterpiece The Shining.

If there's one film adaptation this year that's gonna be downright hard to pull off, it's Doctor Sleep.

The movie is a sequel to Stanley Kubrick's horror masterpiece The Shining and is based on the novel of the same title penned by Stephen King in 2013.

"Doctor Sleep", from director Mike Flanagan, picks up 40 years later.

The trailer treats fans to come of these moments which have been replicated by Flanagan, save for the infamous elevator moment, in which a river of blood pours from the sliding doors into the hotel's lobby.

We hope you're an insomniac because you won't be catching any shut eye after watching the first trailer for the upcoming horror film Doctor Sleep.

Doctor Sleep also stars Bruce Greenwood, Zahn McClarnon, Alex Essoe, Carl Lumbly, and Jocelin Donahue, and arrives in theaters on November 8, 2019.

The now roughly 50-year-old Danny encounters a girl named Abra, who has psychic abilities (known as "the shine") just like he does.

Abra seeks out Danny so he might help protect her from Rose the Hat [Ferguson], who feeds off the shine of innocents in their quest for immortality.

Forming an unlikely alliance, Dan and Abra engage in a brutal life-or-death battle with Rose. Abra's innocence and fearless embrace of her shine compel Dan to call upon his own powers as never before - at once facing his fears and reawakening ghosts of the past.

The brief teaser contained several images eerily familiar from Kubrick's movie, including a young Danny Torrance peddling his tricycle down the haunted hotel's foreboding hallways, and the word "Redrum" - "Murder" spelled backwards - hewn into a wall.
