Russian Doll star thanks Netflix algorithm for the show's success

Holland announced that Netflix had renewed the show - with Lyonne calling the follow-up season the "same show, but weirder" - lining up with comments Lyonne had made previously regarding plans for a three-season arc.

Launched in February, the first season of Russian Doll was acclaimed by both critics and the public, scoring a 96 per cent approval rating on the Rotten Tomatoes site. Russian Doll is an excellent look at a wonderfully complicated female character and the joys that we, as the audience, can have while watching her journey. "The character is a coder so it would be appropriate to have this be the time and place to say, yes".

Star Natasha Lyonne has confirmed that the streaming giant has given the green light to a second series of the show, in which she was forced to relive the same day again and again.

Russian Doll season 2 has a lot to live up to, but honestly?

Natasha Lyonne in Russian Doll. And given how great Season 1 was, I'm dying to see what they have planned for Seasons 2 and hopefully 3.

Poehler initially sold the series to Netflix as part of a three-season deal, likely dependent on how well the first season went, so it is probably fair to assume that we have at least two more seasons on the way over the next few years. Her night resets and she's back in the bathroom of her birthday party, given a second, third, fourth, fifth, etc. chance to fix the loop. "Here are the resources and the support - take off'".

So is there more to tell in Nadia's story, or will she serve as just one piece of a larger anthology series?
