Cuba Gooding Jr. to turn himself in on groping charge

13 June 2019

An unidentified woman called police to report that Gooding, who was "highly intoxicated" at the time, grabbed her breast at about 9 p.m.at the Magic Hour Rooftop Bar and Lounge. "There is not the slightest scintilla of inappropriate conduct on his part", Heller said.

According to The Washington Times, this incident occurred over the weekend.

The actor's lawyer, Mark Heller, had said earlier security video would exonerate his client. He said he can't believe they'd want to arrest Gooding if investigators had seen the video.

Asked about the reported allegation on Monday, NYPD spokesman Detective Martin Brown said, "We don't really have anything official to say about it other than that there's been an allegation and that it is now under investigation".

Gooding also denied he groped anyone and defended himself against allegations in a recent video when TMZ caught up with him at the airport.

"The NYPD takes sexual assault extremely seriously and urges anyone who has been a victim to file a police report so we can perform a comprehensive investigation, and offer support and services to survivors", police said in a statement on Monday (Jun. 10).

Heller reportedly reached out to Manhattan's Sex Crimes Unit, but hasn't heard back from them.

Gooding said Tuesday that he was partying at the bar, but didn't touch anyone inappropriately.

Videos shared by TMZ showed Gooding at the Magic Hour dancing wildly and singing into a microphone that night.

"I trust the system and will let the process speak for itself", Gooding said.

Gooding, a Bronx native, rose to fame after starring in "Boyz N the Hood" in 1991.

Gooding was nominated for an Emmy Award previous year for playing O.J. Simpson in the FX series "The People v. O.J. Simpson" and recently appeared on Broadway and London's West End as lawyer Billy Flynn in "Chicago".
