Next James Bond Film Suspends Production Amidst Daniel Craig Injury

15 May 2019

Daniel Craig has suspended filming for the new James Bond movie after he injured his ankle.

Citing an unnamed source, the publication reported that the actor was shooting one of his final scenes in Jamaica. A source told British newspaper The Sun that he "fell quite awkwardly" and hurt his ankle, similar to Tom Cruise's injury during a stunt for "Mission: Impossible - Fallout".

'He was in quite a lot of pain and was complaining about his ankle. He was also pretty angry that it had happened.

Daniel Craig's injury and the subsequent production halt is the latest set back for Bond 25, which previously delayed filming and pushed its release date after director Danny Boyle left the project over creative differences with producers.

The 51-year-old suffered the injury while filming in Jamaica, according to The Sun, and a shoot planned for Pinewood Studios near London, which had been scheduled for this weekend, has been cancelled. "He threw his suit jacket on the ground in sheer frustration".

It's no wonder that Craig is eager to hang up the gun and suit - the poor actor has endured all manner of injury ever since he took on the mantle of Agent 007, getting two teeth knocked out during his first stunt scene in Casino Royale, slicing off a fingertip and tearing a shoulder muscle in Quantum of Solace, and injuring his knee during a fight scene in 2015's Spectre.

Daniel has flown to the USA to get his ankle checked and treated with a specialist. Fukunaga is the first American filmmaker to direct a Bond film in the "official" canon.

Besides Craig and Wright, other familiar faces to look out for are: Ralph Fiennes (M), Léa Seydoux (Madeleine Swann), Naomie Harris (Eve Moneypenny), Rory Kinnear (Bill Tanner), and Ben Whishaw (Q).

James Bond 25 is scheduled to be released in theaters on 8, April 2020.

Bond's arch-enemy will be played by Oscar-winner Rami Malek, who starred as Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody.
