Union County residents along Missouri River asked to prepare for flooding

New Hamburg and Ayr along the Nith River are under a flood warning with water levels expected to peak in New Hamburg Friday afternoon and Saturday morning in Ayr.

Becker noted that a Notice of Unusual Event was declared at 5:46 a.m. on Friday after the Missouri River reached 899 feet.

"We are closely monitoring the situation".

Speed River (City of Cambridge): Flood coordinators in the City of Cambridge are advised to monitor and prepare to close Blackbridge Road at the Speed River on Friday.

"Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses".

The flooding happened after a deluge of recent rainwater and snowmelt was sent pouring over frozen ground, overwhelming creeks and rivers. Darlington is in the midst of its third flood in a year, which is expected to be the worst since 1993 in that location.

Full closures of I-29 are in place at USA 136 at Rock Port, Mo.

Travelers already on I-29 North Drivers who are now heading north on I-29 should use U.S. 71 North north of St. Joseph to I-35 if possible.
