Don Lemon breaks down why Kevin Hart's 'apology' just doesn't cut it

In the extensive interview, DeGeneres - a past Oscars host herself - said she called The Academy and asked them to reconsider having Hart host.

During Hart's interview on Ellen Friday, DeGeneres had acknowledged the homophobic Twitter jokes that led Hart to step down from hosting the Oscars in December, after he had refused to apologize for the resurfaced posts. DeGeneres allowed Hart to explain his side of the story and apologize for his comments.

He added in the caption, "When did we get to the point where we forgot that we all learn, then we all have the ability to grow and with that growth comes a wealth of knowledge".

Hart's first apology to the LGBTQ community was after he stepped down from hosting the Oscars (even though he said hours before he wouldn't apologize). "You can't change without a understanding of what GROWTH means".

Others, however, were upset with what was viewed as an "attempt to speak for the LGBTQ community as a whole". Please grasp this and use it in 2019.

Just two days after the announcing that Hart would be the host of the 91st Oscars ceremony next month, he stepped down.

The Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle star appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Friday (January 4) where the chat-show urged him to rethink his decision not to host next month's ceremony, which is now host-less.

After spending time debating the answer to that question, Hart concluded by saying, "I think that in the times that we're living in, we have to be understanding and accepting of people and change".

Deadline.com reports, "Hart felt his hosting would become a distraction, a continuing controversial narrative that would take the spotlight off the people and movies being honored".

Stand-up star Kevin Hart has posted a cryptic message about "growth" and "learning" on his Instagram account. Because all of the people that have done wrong are the people that - you want their attention to say, 'This is why we want you to change, so we don't feel the way that we feel.' And those people go 'S-. Lemon responded, "Walking away right now, that is your choice, but many of us really need to keep the conversation going". During his appearence on Ellen, Kevin said the attacks against him were purely out of malice, rather than out of good intentions.
