A Special Peek at Marvel Studios’ ‘Captain Marvel’

08 January 2019

Captain Marvel, the origin story of Brie Larson's Carol Danvers, will introduce the superhero who is eventually going to play a larger role in Avengers Endgame.

Hence the de-aged Sam Jackson and Agent Coulson, plus the "I thought you were dead?" bad guy from the first GOTG film, as well as a few new faces. The trailer also references the film's period setting, the 1990s, as Fury notes to Danvers, "Grunge is a good look on you". The TV spot announces that tickets are officially on sale for Captain Marvel.

Speaking at the Doctor Strange screening, Marvel Studios' president Kevin Feige said: "It's very important to us that all of our heroes do not become silhouette-perfect cutout icons". Check out the latest footage from the film below. This July, Tom Holland will return as the MCU's friendly neighborhood Spider-Man in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Featuring new bits of footage from the upcoming solo movie, check it out in the player below!

Marvel Studios' Captain Marvel is directed by the writing/directing team of Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, whose credits include Mississippi Grind and Half Nelson.

2018 was in many ways Marvel Studios' most successful year to date, with Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War both dominating the conversation (as well as the box office) for months.

Captain Marvel will debut in theaters on March 8, 2019.

The film stars Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Rune Temte, Algenis Perez Soto, Mckenna Grace, with Annette Bening, with Clark Gregg, and Jude Law.

Meanwhile, there have been questions all over the internet asking the Marvel Cinematic Universe why Captain Marvel wasn't seen in previous the Avengers movies.
