The Knicks defeated the Cavaliers 95-90. Aside from having a solid 18-year National Basketball Association career, Fisher has professional coaching experience from his tenure as Knicks head coach back in 2014. Fisher coached the Knicks to a 40-96 record over the course of his tenure.

The Sparks, led by two-time WNBA MVP Candace Parker, went 19-15 in the 2018 season and lost to the Washington Mystics in the second round of the playoffs.

When Jackson was hired by the Knicks, the former Lakers and Bulls coach called upon Fisher to be his head coach.

Under the tutelage of Phil Jackson, Fisher helped the LA Lakers win five National Basketball Association titles in two stints with the team.

The Los Angeles Sparks are reportedly going to hire Derek Fisher as their next head coach, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. News conference is set for Friday.

Two years ago, Agler guided the team to the WNBA Championship in 2016. Brian Agler resigned as the team's head coach last week, leaving a vacancy that will be filled by the former National Basketball Association player and head coach.

UPDATE: The Los Angeles Sparks officially announced the hiring of Fisher as head coach on Wednesday.

Fisher played 13 seasons as the Los Angeles Lakers point guard over two stints from 1996 to 2012.
