Rogue One's Cassian Andor to lead new Star Wars TV series

Disney has released its earnings report for the quarter ended 29 September 2018, providing more information on its upcoming streaming platform.

- “The Walt Disney Companys new direct-to-consumer streaming service will be called Disney+,” Iger announced.

I enjoyed Rogue One because it felt like they were taking a well-explored film genre and throwing a Star Wars skin over it, which is great. There are Star Wars shows in the works, as well as new Marvel projects, including a Loki TV series with Tom Hiddleston.

"Given the success of Hulu so far in terms of subscriber growth and the relative brand strength and other things, too, like demographics, we think there's an opportunity to increase investment in Hulu notably on the programming side", Iger said.

Iger said the plan for ESPN+ continues to be licensing and producing content that is exclusively owned and controlled by Disney.

Launching its preview landing page, Disney has also confirmed that Fox's National Geographic will shift over to the service.

In a statement, Luna said: 'Going back to the Star Wars universe is very special for me. Let us know your thoughts down below!

We still don't the how much Disney+ will cost or its exact launch date, but expect to find out more details soon enough.

Disney is trying to transform itself into a broad-based digital entertainment company as audiences move to Netflix, Alphabet's YouTube and other digital options.

Disney+ is also assembling a live-action series centered around a fan-favorite character from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It's all because of Disney's purchase of Fox, who owns the streaming service, according to Tech Vibes.

The CEO also was upbeat about the prospects for Hulu, an on-demand and live TV service. This could be a reaction to Solo: A Star Wars Story's lackluster performance at the box office, but it's more than likely a play to ensure that Disney+ can attract as many subscribers as possible.

In a call with investors, Iger noted that the service will enable users to easily access content relating to each of its brands.

The expansive slate is now being announced little by little, with the most recent reveal confirming Tom Hiddleston's return as Loki from the Marvel Cinematic Universe in an original series of his own.
