Police said four children and an adult, who were questioned pointed accusing fingers at the 10-year-old girl. The baby was 6 months old.

After interviewing an adult and three children at the center, the girl, who the newspaper declined to identify by name because of her age, was arrested.

Treu is being held on $250,000 bond.

"Our hearts are broken for the girls and families of the Girl Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes", Sylvia Acevedo of Girl Scouts of the U.S. said in a statement.

A 10-year-old girl has been taken into custody over the murder of a six-month-old baby.

Another girl, 10, was injured and hospitalized.

The unnamed girl was at her foster parents' home in Tilden when she allegedly dropped the baby boy on October 30, Chippewa County District Attorney Wade Newell said in court Monday. He said they were driving down County Road P when Treu "looked out of it" and the pickup started crossing the centerline of the road.

Treu was "somewhat out of it", the passenger said, and grabbed the wheel back, drove off the roadway and struck the group, Newell said.

The district said it is providing resources and support both on and off campus. All members were wearing green highly visible safety vests. In a statement, the Girl Scouts of the US said, "Our hearts are broken for the girls and families".

Treu told investigators he never passed out and that his passenger "was huffing a lot more than him", according to the complaint. "It was just something that was out of our control", said Jayna's father, Brian Kelley.

Online court records show Treu, was charged with four counts of Homicide by Intox Use of Vehicle, four counts of Hit and Run-Involve Death, one count of Hit and Run-Involve Great Bodily Harm, one count of Bail Jumping-Felony and one count of Intentionally Abuse Hazardous Substance. He also faces multiple charges for fleeing the scene. The 21-year-old driver, Colten Treu of Chippewa Falls, sped off but later surrendered.

Treu was found guilty of "operating with a prohibited blood alcohol concentration" in November 2014 in Chippewa County, the complaint says.
