Cops Brought Out To Keep Patrick Beverley & Russell Westbrook From Fighting

Beverley dove for a loose ball and flailed into Westbrook's knees during the play.

Beverley's foul was ruled a flagrant 1. Both players had to be separated and some police officers were seen standing guard on the court as the back-and-forth played out.

There's plenty of history between the two. The two were each assessed a technical foul for the antics after the play and Beverley was also hit with a flagrant-one foul for the dive. Beverley had four points, seven rebounds and six assists.

Westbrook missed the rest of the playoffs and part of the next season.

The Thunder and Clippers game on Tuesday had it all.

After Tuesday's fracas, Westbrook wasn't in the mood to relive the past.

Beverley felt like he did nothing wrong, and said his reputation plays a role in the calls he gets.

"I didn't think it was a dirty play at all, actually", Rivers said. "I don't know. I don't know. Two competitors, no one's going to back down, no one did, two technicals, continue playing". Westbrook suffered a torn meniscus in 2013 that came courtesy of Beverley making a similar hard move on a steal attempt that resulted in a collision with Westbrook's right knee.

Westbrook was animated throughout the game. "You gotta give it to little babies, put 'em top sleep", Westbrook said. Though Westbrook and his wife have twin girls on the way, it turns out the motion wasn't about them.

"Russ don't really like nobody out there, so, you know", George said. "I'm glad they got that right". You got little kids on you, that's what happens. However, Westbrook lingered by the Clippers' bench and ended up exchanging words with Beverley.

When things got heated between Russell Westbrook and Patrick Beverley, police stepped onto the basketball court.
