Huawei Mate 20 Pro India launch could be nearing, hints Amazon teaser

19 October 2018

On Tuesday, Chinese smartphone maker Huawei released its new flagship phone series, the Mate 20. That's assuming your government allows carriers in your country to sell it, of course.

The device is available in black and red and will launch in November - though it's probably not coming to the US.

On top of three rear-facing cameras, the Mate 20 Pro has an artificial intelligence engine that can scan real-life objects and turn scans into an animated emoji. The Huawei Mate 20 Pro, on the other hand, was officially revealed this morning by Huawei for the whole world. Others, Huawei included, have copied Samsung's curved screens in the past.

The Android flagship has a 6.39-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1440x3120 and a density of 538 pixels-per-inch. In addition to that, it has a lot of futuristic features seen on a smartphone for the first time.

In terms of security, the Pro model offers both a fingerprint sensor beneath part of its screen as well as a depth-sensing facial scanner. And if that wasn't enough, there's also a fingerprint sensor embedded into the display for those that prefer that route for authentication. They join the new Google Pixel 3 and 3 ... There's a very likely similar story happening with the Galaxy S10, assuming you're going for the largest version, comparable to the Mate 20 Pro. The USB-C port can be used for charging the handset and transferring data, or for listening to music using wired headphones. It is the first smartphone to also act as a charger. This smartphone also uses the Kirin 980 processor, but is available with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM.

The HUAWEI Mate 20 Series also features an AI Portrait Color video mode.

All these smartphones are powered by the Kirin 970 chipset. The phone packs vapor chamber cooling with a graphene film heat spreader and uses a massive 5,000mAh battery.

The Mate 20 Pro will be using a 5G modem inside its housing, resulting in a speedier handset regarding wireless connectivity. Then again, the Mate 20 X is optimized for resource-intensive gaming sessions. Samsung might instead employ this four camera setup.

The Mate 20 Pro provides a wireless reverse charge feature, which enables the device to work as a power bank for selected electronic devices that support wireless charging.

The Mate 20 will be reserved for those that want a cheaper device with fewer compromises. But perhaps the most intriguing aspect of the battery/charging system is that the device supports two-way wireless charging.

While it might seem that Huawei has managed to make a device that fixes many drawbacks of the Switch, the cost for the Mate 20 X is approximately over a $1000.
