Haley's first book, released in 2012 when she was governor of SC, was part of her launch as a national figure within the Republican party, and led to talk that year she might join the GOP ticket with Mitt Romney. Trump also said that Haley is welcome back in his administration if she wants to return.
She has been more outspoken in calling out Russian aggression than Trump, for example. Before, it used to say she was ambassador to the United Nations, now it says nothing. In the role she represented Trump's often unpopular agenda at the UN, advocating a hardline stance on Iran, justifying USA cuts to foreign aid and leading the U.S. withdrawal from the UN Human Rights Council. "And I do think that sometimes it's good to rotate in other people who can put that same energy and power into it", Haley said.
"No, I am not running in 2020", Haley said, adding that she will campaign for Trump in the next general election cycle.
Mrs Haley's Twitter bio had already removed all reference to her role as United Nations ambassador even before her departure was confirmed.
President Trump met with Haley in the Oval Office to discuss her departure. It came in response to an anonymous essay in The New York Times by a senior administration official that alleged a secret "resistance" effort in Trump's administration.
Powell, who worked for a decade at Goldman before joining the Trump administration, would have to be confirmed by the Senate if Trump were to nominate her. Haley sailed through her confirmation hearing with lawmakers approving her nomination by a vote of 96-4. Trump himself said she had informed about six months ago of her desire to step down and suggested it did not come as a surprise to him.
Thank you for signing up.. 'We're all happy for you in one way, but we hate to lose [you]'.
Last year, she upset USA allies and foes alike by warning that the United States would be "taking names" of countries that backed a U.N. resolution criticizing Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital. "The US is strong in a way it should make all Americans proud", Haley said. She was re-elected in 2014.
The reason why the "break" explanation doesn't make a whole lot of sense is that ambassadors to the United Nations need to be confirmed by congress, and that's not a simple process that you can just hop in and out of.
