Daniel Sturridge stunner snatches late point for Liverpool at Chelsea

30 September 2018

Sure, our 100% record to start the season has gone now but if I had to pick one of the two competitions to beat Chelsea in - the Premier League or the Carabao Cup - you can bet your bottom dollar that I'm picking the Premier League every damn time.

It means that the 29-year-old has four goals for the season, joint top for the Reds with Sadio Mane.

Sturridge has been hampered with persistent injury problems since the centre-forward netted 21 times in 28 games in the 2013-14 season under Brendan Rodgers.

"Hazard brings something the others do not - dribbling ability, running at pace, beating several men from deep before delivering a spectacular finish, " he said according to Mirror UK.

Olivier Giroud and substitute Alvaro Morata offered very little in the way of threat for Chelsea, and the two strikers have combined for just one Premier League goal this season - but Sarri said that he is not prepared to consider benching both in favour of a false nine system just yet.

It may just be September, and there are about eight months to go in the season, but we may already have the Premier League goal of the season.

A win would have put Chelsea second in the table, above Liverpool and level on points with leaders Manchester City.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has recalled defensive mainstay Virgil van Dijk to the starting lineup for their encounter against fellow title contenders Chelsea.

But new Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri seems to have given Hazard a new lease of life at Stamford Bridge, allowing him to express himself more on the pitch.

There was some talk on social media post-match of being anxious ahead of the visit to Stamford Bridge this weekend but I'm not really sure why.

George and Alex were at Stamford Bridge to see the action!

"As long as we play like we did tonight we will win football games".

He added: "I think the fact they're away from home and I feel like there's a weakness at the back with Chelsea".

"I'll tell you the truth, after the World Cup I was keen to move as my dream is to play one day in Spain" affirmed the Belgian.

"But coming in a game like this, constantly in situations like he comes in, that makes a world-class player".
