Apple unveils premium iPhone XS, health features for watch

18 September 2018

The Apple Watch Series 4 release date is Friday September 21st.

While Apple hasn't specifically said why AppleCare+ is priced $30 higher for this generation, the decision was likely down to the fact the wearables now feature larger displays and more advanced electrical sensors for Apple Watch's new ECG functionality, launching later in the year in the United States.

While the shape is roughly the same, the design is a little softer and taller, with Apple calling it a "fundamental redesign". Therefore, 38mm bands will fit on the new 40mm size and 42mm will fit on the 44mm. "Overall, this is going to be a very good year for Apple". In addition, Apple has also updated some of the older watch faces while adding a handful of new ones in order to give fans more customization options.

After the recent presentation of Apple, where you showed all the new devices of the company, fans of "Apple products" there is a lot of questions about the lack of any progress in development, as well as some of the other highlights of the event.

All three iPhone models will feature dual SIM capabilities, a first for Apple. Half of those study participants were healthy, while the other half had atrial fibrillation - or AFib, for short, which is a heart condition that can lead to serious health complications.

An improved accelerometer and gyroscope in the watch mean that it can detect when the user has taken a fall, and the watch will ask if they need help.

Apple also introduced a lower-cost 6.1-inch iPhone XR made of aluminium, at a starting price at Rs 76,900.

Apple, it seems, is quietly backing away from the luxury watch market. The readings are recorded in the iPhone's Health app and can be shared with your doctor.

The heart health features will tell users if they have any signs of risky conditions like atrial fibrillation, but the FDA was explicit in saying that the watch and its functions should not replace traditional tests at hospitals.

Everything else should be available on launch day, however, and that's close, too, with the Apple Watch Series 4 out in Australia on September 21 at a starting price of $599 for the GPS-equipped model, while a Global Positioning System and cellular model (in case you want to take calls and data without a phone) will cost extra, as will deluxe models in stainless steel and designed with Hermes.

The last time I interviewed Vic Gundotra was some six years ago, back when he was still the top executive at Google's not yet ghost town of a social network, Google+, and he was as Google-y as you'd expect about how fantastic and wonderful it was going to be.
