First official look at Brie Larson as Captain Marvel

06 September 2018

Fans can finally devour the first look of Brie Larson's Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel in the pictures that have been unveiled by Marvel. In the first look Brie Larson can be seen all suited-up.

Indeed, EW reveals that when Captain Marvel begins, Brie Larson's Carol Danvers is living on the planet Hala and is part of the specialized military team known as Starforce, which is described as the SEAL Team Six of space.

Captain Marvel is directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. We hypothesized they could do this based on comic book lore and set photos before, but now we know it's real. In 2012, she assumed the name Captain Marvel. In the after-credits scene of "Avengers: Infinity War", Fury sends an alert to Captain Marvel before disappearing from the Thanos snap.

It's a big day for those who have been impatiently awaiting the arrival of Marvel's next film, Captain Marvel.

But before she joins the remaining Avengers in May next year, the part-Kree, part-human air force pilot will star in her own origin story.

First up, Captain Marvel comes out early next year, with a cinema release now scheduled for 8 March 2019, just a couple of months before Avengers 4 hits screens in late April/early May (depending on which side of the Atlantic you're on) to inevitably shake up the whole Marvel universe. It's already September, and the film will premiere on March 8th in the US. In one image, they are walking out of the ocean, led by Talos (Ben Mendelsohn). Captain Marvel also serves as the first solo, female-led movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and an introduction into the most powerful hero the MCU has ever had.

It's also revealed that this will not be an origin story and that Carol Danvers will already be in control of her powers. It has been announced that the film will feature a younger Nick Fury, with both eyes intact no less.

Captain Marvel will focus on a period of the MCU we have not previously seen before- the 1990s. But a new set of photos from Entertainment Weekly expose even more of the wild and familiar worlds Carol's going to find herself in, along with a few faces and curious Easter eggs that are only going to get fans more excited for the film.

See more photos from the film, including shots of Law, Mendelsohn, a youthful Jackson and MCU veterans Lee Pace and Djimon Hounsou, below.
