Keeper Kepa completes big money move to Chelsea

Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic will join Chelsea on a season-long loan deal as part of the deal that sees goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois move to Real in a permanent deal.

A statement on Athletic's website read: "Kepa Arrizabalaga has met the requirements for the valid unilateral termination of the work contract that linked him to Athletic Club".

The 23-year-old Spanish worldwide has become the most expensive goalkeeper in history after completing a £72m move to Stamford Bridge.

The Belgium star, who spent three seasons at Atletico Madrid from 2011 to 2014, wanted to move closer to his two children in the Spanish capital and had stayed away from training with Chelsea this week in a bid to force through the transfer.

The 22-year old will displace Liverpool's Alisson as the most expensive goalkeeper in world football, just a couple of weeks on from the Brazilian's £67 million move to Anfield.

Now, as the start of Premier League play approaches the footballing world as reportedly received clarification on the future of the goalkeeper position at Chelsea.

The Golden Glove victor will then undergo medicals on Thursday and will be presented as a Real Madrid player at 1:00 PM local time.

It was announced on Wednesday night that the goalkeeper would leave Chelsea for the European champions for a fee of around £35m, the 26-year-old agreeing a six-year deal at the Bernabeu.

"His long-term contract reflects the belief we have in him and we look ahead to the coming seasons with an enormous sense of optimism".

Manchester United legend Gary Neville believes Chelsea will miss Thibaut Courtois.
