Once Upon a Time in Hollywood first look: Margot Robbie's Sharon Tate

07 August 2018

It's more than just the magic of movies: Margot Robbie looks like an uncanny match for Sharon Tate, the woman she plays in an upcoming biopic.

The latest comes from Margot Robbie, who stars in the movie as the late actress Sharon Tate and used Instagram on Monday to share an image of herself in character.

Robbie wears a white skirt, black turtleneck and white boots in the photograph, and she is staring into the camera. Pitt plays his friend and stunt double. The "Valley of the Dolls" actress was married to Roman Polanski at the time, and was heavily pregnant with their son.

This will be Tarantino's first film based on true events, as Inglorious Basterds was technically set in World War II and featured key leaders including Adolf Hitler and Winston Churchill, but in an alternate history that did not follow reality.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt have also both confirmed their place in the film, with the first look pic released of the movie featuring them leaning casually against a wall. But [DiCaprio's character] Rick has a very famous next-door neighbor...

Tate's slaying will definitely factor into the upcoming drama, which focuses on former TV Western star Rick Dalton (DiCaprio), who lived next door to Tate in L.A., and who, along with his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth (Pitt), finds himself struggling to make it in an industry that's rapidly changing.

In perhaps an act of good faith, Sony also moved up the released date of the film to July 26, 2019 - two weeks before it was originally set to be released on August 9, 2019, the 50th anniversary of Tate's murder. I'm very excited to tell this story of an LA, and a Hollywood that doesn't exist anymore.

One thing we do know is that the unbelievable cast will also include Al Pacino, Timothy Olyphant, Damian Lewis, Dakota Fanning, Emile Hirsch, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, Scoot McNairy, Clifton Collins, Luke Perry, and Burt Reynolds.
