Microsoft confirms it's coming to Gamescom with new Xbox One bundles

19 July 2018

Microsoft revealed this morning that it will be announcing "all-new Xbox hardware and accessories" and "perhaps a few surprises" at this year's Gamescom, which is being held in Cologne, Germany.

Interestingly, the company initially described the stream as featuring 'all-new Xbox hardware' in the post, although quickly edited the blurb presumably because people were losing their shit and expecting a new Xbox console. After all, it was just last month at E3 2018 that Phil Spencer revealed that the Xbox team is hard at work making the next generation of Xbox-branded consoles.

While new console bundles aren't exactly exciting - especially if you already own an Xbox One S or Xbox One X - the new accessories comment does have our attention.

The tease comes from a Major Nelson blog post detailing the company's Gamescom plans. Gone is the reference to "all-new Xbox hardware and accessories", and in its place is a promise of "new Xbox One bundles and accessories".

Microsoft Revealing New Xbox Hardware on August 21

Like previous years, Microsoft will be present with its Xbox booth at which players will be able to try out the upcoming Forza Horizon 4, State of Decay 2's upcoming Daybreak Pack, and Ori and the Will of the Wisps. We'll just have to tune in to the live show at 4:30 PM CEST on Tuesday, August 21 to find out.

Xbox FanFest will return to Gamescom on August 23. A new Xbox Elite controller has been rumored for some time, and the availability of the current iteration has been spotty recently.

Lastly, Microsoft announced a handful of games that will be present on the show floor at their booth space.
