Sacha Baron Cohen's U.S

13 July 2018

Sacha Baron Cohen is seemingly breaking his silence on the controversy swirling around his Showtime prank series to fire back at former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. An e-mail seeking comment from Baron Cohen has not been returned.

"Who is America?", due to launch on Sunday on cable channel Showtime, has been shrouded in secrecy apart from a trailer showing former US defense secretary Dick Cheney signing a large bottle described as a water-boarding kit. His 2006 faux documentary film "Borat" ridiculed Kazakhstan and Middle Americans.

The letter, addressed to "Vice-President Palin", appears to be a response to her Tuesday Facebook post in which she vents her frustration about the comedian's trickery, having traveled across the country with her daughter for the interview with a man she thought was a war hero, only to learn it was a setup for Baron Cohen's Showtime series, "Who Is America?".

Cohen's in character as his latest persona, Billy Wayne Ruddick Jr, Ph.D, when interviewing Palin for his forthcoming seven-episode comedy Who Is America?

Conservative pundit and ex-congressman Joe Walsh has revealed on Twitter that he was also duped into an interview with Cohen for the show after being told that Steven Spielberg and Rupert Murdoch also took part. She said she was especially incensed that he had posed as a disabled military vet. "I sat through a long "interview" full of Hollywoodism's disrespect and sarcasm - but finally had enough and literally, physically removed my mic and walked out".

He said he "stopped and questioned their direction" and then producers "rushed me out of the studio as an apparent fight broke out". Given Palin's reaction and this huge show of dedication to the character, we frankly can't wait to check out Who Is America?
