Cardi B Files $15 million Suit Against Estranged Manager

Cardi B. countersued ex-manager Klenord "Shaft" Raphael in court on Thursday for $15 million while recently clarifying what kind of contract she signed with Atlantic.

According to the court docs per TMZ, the Be Careful singer says Klenord "Shaft" Raphael was too controlling over her career and had set up a management deal that was much too one-sided.

The Bodak Yellow performer said that Shaft exploited her on the numbers end of the business, as he sought to take not only a 20 percent commission, but asked for half of the proceeds she earned off of her Sony publishing contract.

Cardi also claims Shaft attempted to tell her who she should and shouldn't date, affecting her romance with husband Offset, the father of her unborn first child. In the suit, she says that bled over into her dating life, with Shaft telling her "who she should and should not see romantically".

Cardi also claimed Shaft "grossly exaggerated" his role in helping her achieve fame, and failed to provide monthly accounting and payments owed to her.

"The suit, filed in New York's Southern District by attorney Paul LiCalsi of Robins Kaplan, claims that Shaft used money that belonged to Cardi - whose real name is Belcalis Almanzar - for "personal travel, entertainment and expenses", and that employees of Shaft's company, KSR, "[helped] themselves to the 'Bank of Almanzar, '" taking "loans" of up to $15,000 without Cardi's knowledge.

The rapper, 25, is suing Shaft after he went after her for $10 million earlier this year.

Cardi B, who filed a countersuit on Thursday, is looking to have management and recording agreements declared void. While he is proud of their successful collaborations as she evolved from Instagram influencer to music megastar, Shaft is disappointed by her actions to freeze him out of her career, which are detailed in the complaint. The Altanta-based management company and record label also represent Lil Yachty, and the rap group Migos, of which Cardi B's fiance Offset is a member of. Her latest album "Invasion of Privacy" was released earlier this month and debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 200.
