The email action began yesterday morning when Musk called Tripp to task for allegedly having an acquaintance of his threaten to shoot up Tesla's Gigafactory.
According to the lawsuit, Tripp joined the company in October 2017 and quickly became upset over his position not holding enough seniority, something which managers identified as being disruptive and caused the employee to be "combative". The name of the "friend" and whether the person actually knows Tripp could not be determined, however the Storey County Sheriff's Office said deputies determined there was "no credible threat" and that an investigation of the origin of the call was ongoing.
While a Tesla spokesperson declined to comment on which sites it plans to shutter or how many solar employees will lose their jobs, it did say it continues "to expect that Tesla's solar and battery business will be the same size as automotive over the long term". "In light of these actions, not promoting him was definitely the right move", Musk added in the email. He suggested, in response to a tweet from Ars Technica reporter Cyrus Favriar, that Mr Tripp may not be an isolated case.
Tesla is reportedly downsizing its solar operations as the company pushes for profitability with its core vehicle business. With 40,000 people, the worst 1 in 1000 will have issues. Unforeseen to most, that partnership will also be coming to a close today which stunned many investors and employees alike. the program was just announced this past February as expanding.
Tesla said it planned to prove exactly how much it deserved to receive in damages during the trial, but given the claims in Tesla's lawsuit, you can bet it's not peanuts.
In addition, "he included large quantities that were not scrap from 2018 at all, but that were instead items such as materials from previous year that had already been included in Tesla's 2017 financials, or that were simply serial numbers assigned as part of routine system testing to components that were never even made".
"I was dismayed to learn this weekend about a Tesla employee who had conducted quite extensive and damaging sabotage to our operations", Musk wrote in a companywide email late last week obtained by CNBC.
Thank you for this gift! You're a frightful human being.
Tripp: "I NEVER "framed" anyone else or even insinuated anyone else as being involved in my production of documents of your MILLIONS OF DOLLARS OF WASTE, Safety concerns, lying to investors/the WORLD".
Do you have more information about this or any other technology story?
Tripp said he was interrogated at work last week and fired over the phone Tuesday by a human-resources representative.
Musk: "There are literally injuries [sic] with Model 3". It is by far the safest auto in the world for any midsize vehicle.
