Watch Painfully Shy 13-Year-Old Singer Slay On ‘America’s Got Talent’

When Courtney Hadwin took the stage on Tuesday's "America's Got Talent", the judges didn't know what to make of the likeable yet incredibly shy young woman who stood before them.

13-year-old singer Courtney Hadwin hit the stage for a performance on Tuesday night (June 12) - and her singing skills were so good that Howie Mandel hit the golden buzzer after her audition!

Howie Mandel was even more enthusiastic as he told her: 'You're from a whole different era, ' before he went on to compare her to Janis Joplin and tell her how she got her record deal after being discovered by Clive Davis.

"Bloody hell, Courtney! You were this shy little thing when you first came out". Then you sing and you're like a lion.

However Courtney's already been making quite a name for herself with her incredible voice, performing at local events and keeping fans up to date with her latest news on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

"I'm not Clyde Davis. The only thing I can do for you, young lady, is give you..."

Hadwin openly wept with joy as the golden confetti rained down from the rafters, and was embraced in a big hug by her proud father, who had been watching his daughter perform from the wings of the stage.

And "go for it" is exactly what she did.

She's not the first British act to do well in America's Got Talent, with Wimbledon ventriloquist Paul Zerdin winning the 2015 series.

Courtney competed in The Voice Kids UK a year ago but missed out on the top prize.

"Never ever underestimate the quiet person in the room", Tyra Banks tweeted.

America's Got Talent is an American reality television series aired on NBC, and part of the global Got Talent franchise.
