After 120 laps and two stages of Sunday's NASCAR Cup Series race at Michigan International Speedway, the event was considered official. Bowyer finished ahead of teammates Kevin Harvick and Kurt Busch, for a sweep of the top three spots by Stewart-Haas Racing.
Busch came out in front after the first round of pit stops and adjustments and stayed there even after a Lap 40 restart after a caution came out for a Darrel Wallace Jr. spin.
Harvick finished second, and pole-position victor Kurt Busch finished third, completing a sweep of the top three spots for Stewart-Haas Racing.
"I still feel like (Kevin) Harvick, Kyle (Busch) and (Martin) Truex (Jr.) are probably your favorites, but I'm sure I'm a part of that group just based off of our last three races here at Michigan", Larson said Friday.
Dillon, in his No. 3 Chevrolet, fought with Hemric's No. 21 on a restart on the 89th lap, but the race went under caution again nearly immediately because of the weather. On Sunday, thanks to mother nature and an accidental common sense gamble, Bowyer won his second race of 2018.
Austin Dillon, who won the Daytona 500 earlier this year and the Xfinity race Saturday, said he liked the package and, while it's possibly not suitable for all tracks, it is something NASCAR needs to continue to research and explore. There were 10 cautions for 37 laps, including one from laps 81-88 after a multicar incident in Turn 2. They battled for a bit, and Bowyer ended up with the lead in his No. 14 vehicle. [Crew chief] Rodney [Childers] made a good call there in the middle of the second stage to keep the track position and be able to drive away and get the stage win.
When asked if he was upset finishing second after leading after the second stage, Harvick said he has benefitted from some of the same weather-related luck in past races.
The race was delayed around three hours at the start because of the weather, and there had been a threat of more rain for a while before the race was finally called after 91 of the planned 125 laps.
Series points leader Elliott Sadler finished outside the top 10 for the first time this season, in 30th, after making contact with Alex Bowman's No. 23 Chevrolet and then the wall early in Stage 3.
The Ford's look like they are the best cars as NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series heads to Father's Day off-week. He finished 12 in the end, but not before having to start at the rear of the field due to rain canceling qualifying. There is a Michigan Heritage Trophy that goes to the race- winning manufacturer for Cup weekend, too.
Park won the 2013 NCAA individual title as a freshman at Southern California and helped the Trojans take the team crown.
Kyle Larson has won three straight NASCAR Cup Series races at MI. "It would be cool to get four in a row". Cup star Brad Keselowski is the only driver to win twice.
He narrowly missed out on third to his brother in a late duel, in a race in which engine performance was crucial and gave Ford an edge.
