Russian Federation calls for implementation of JCPOA on Iran: Putin

12 June 2018

"Please, we will be glad to see everyone here in Moscow", Putin told reporters in China where he attended an economic summit and met with President Xi Jinping.

World leaders are gathering at the G7 summit in Canada Friday, as President Trump continues to feud with some of those allies over trade.

At present a Trump-Putin summit carries a literal life-and-death urgency.

Putin said in an official statement that the recently-concluded SCO summit at Qingdao called for cooperation among the member-countries to tackle issues including terrorism by designing counter-terrorism operations and holding joint drills, and to provide information regarding the operational activities by extremist groups.

"We are talking about laying a gas pipeline", Putin said, addressing energy concerns. Trump will be meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un for a historic summit.

Mr Trump has said he is open to having a summit with Mr Putin, who U.S. intelligence officials have said directed Russian meddling in the 2016 election to help Mr Trump win.

Notably, Vladimir Putin's personal frustration with the Group had been reported long before the 2014 suspension - the Russian President skipped the world leaders meeting in Camp David, the us presidential retreat near Washington, DC, in May 2012, and Putin's "loneliness" was a trending world headline during the G-8 summit in Northern Ireland in 2013. Russian Federation was pushed out of the then G8 due to its annexation of Ukraine's Crimea four years ago.

Putin responded: 'It wasn't us who left. Our counterparts refused to go to Russian Federation for well-known reasons.

Likewise, Macron described the moment as a period of "great challenges", but also defended his efforts to befriend the American president, saying the U.S.is a historical ally and "we need them".

Trump has suggested that Russian Federation should return to the global group, saying at a news conference Saturday in La Baie, Quebec, Canada: "I think it would be an asset to have Russian Federation back in". "This used to be the G8 and not the G7 and something happened a while ago where Russian Federation is no longer in", he said.

He told Trump that Canadians "who stood shoulder to shoulder with American soldiers in far-off lands" do not take lightly the idea that the tariffs are for national security reasons.

Elsewhere in her remarks, May underscored the need to stop having tit-for-tat actions in a trade war between the European Union and the US which began after Trump imposed tariffs on steel and aluminum imports from key allies. European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker offered to visit Washington for an assessment of EU-US trade to help resolve the dispute, an official said.

"It was a betrayal", Kudlow said on CNN's State of the Union.

Trump says he spoke with world leaders about his trade policies and called for the elimination of tariffs, trade barriers or subsidies. "And that's what bad faith Justin Trudeau did with that stunt press conference".

Canadian Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland said her country "will not change its mind when it comes to the illegal" application of tariffs.

Ironically, Trump was expected to receive a far warmer reception from Kim Jong Un than from US allies in the West. China is Iran's biggest trading partner and stands to benefit if global sanctions aren't reimposed.

Keep in mind that when it comes to US national security, no one objects to Trump's negotiating with Kim whose nuclear button is much smaller than America's.

These nations have more people, more land and, Putin said, more economic power when output is calculated by purchasing power parity, than the G-7, a grouping of US allies, mostly in Europe.

"It is nothing unusual and should be taken calmly, without irony", he said. According to the President, it was already high time that the other world leaders needed to stop talking and imagining threats in a relatively harmless country and start to have real discussions in the G7 meetings which could actually lead to something.
