Yanks-Nats series postponed by rain; 2 games set for June 18

17 May 2018

Tuesday's game was suspended after 5 1/2 innings when a line of severe thunderstorms swept through Nationals Park in Washington, D.C. At the time play was halted, the clubs were tied, 3-3.

Both the Yankees and Nationals were off Monday.

"I was just told, kind of definitely, yesterday that Thursday was not an option", Boone said. "It was a lot for me to get back to this moment, so I'm just really excited I get to stay around for however long they keep me here and try to make this really good team even better".

Instead, the Yankees will travel to Kansas City for Friday's game, and the Yankees and Nationals will pick another mutual off day to get the game-and-a-half in.

That June 18 date will mark a mini-road trip for the Yankees, who originally had a day off in the midst of a nine-game homestand. Washington is coming off a weekend series in Toronto and begins a three-game series with Baltimore at home on Tuesday. They will now finish their four-game set with the Rays on June 17, head to DC for the rescheduled games on June 18 and then return home to play a three-game series against Seattle starting on June 19.

Giancarlo Stanton left here with a memento: his 1,000th career hit, which came Tuesday night on a pop fly that landed out of the reach of three Nationals in shallow right field. That'll be a fluid situation.

"Did you see my first hit ever?" "We won't have him here, just regularly sitting". "I think this may have been [hit] harder than that one, so I'm fine with it". Frazier was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday.

"I just want to get an opportunity, " Frazier said.

"It's a big weight off my shoulders knowing I get to sleep on that team flight right now", said Frazier, whose slim chance of making the team out of spring training was scuttled by a concussion.
