Jose Mourinho's clear out of Louis van Gaal's Man United almost complete

Conte might not have won almost as much as Mourinho but his achievements in his two seasons at the club are still mightily impressive.

Manchester United icon Gary Neville has defended Jose Mourinho from the turgid football criticism by claiming it wasn't always rosy under Sir Alex Ferguson's reign either.

The vanity purchases of Andrei Shevchenko and Michael Ballack were completed without consulting the manager, forcing Mourinho to change a system that had won the previous two Premier League titles with unrelenting dominance. It would be the very least that this Premier League-winning manager deserves.

Home wins over Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal were welcome, but it is hard to look past the game at the Etihad.

The Spanish midfielder was an unused substitute during United's last FA Cup final win - a 2-1 success over Crystal Palace in 2016, when Jesse Lingard's extra-time volley sealed what was, at the time, a record-equalling 12th triumph for the club. "We can't make (the season right) because the Champions League (qualification) is gone".

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris said this month that finishing in the top four meant more than winning a trophy.

Chelsea's season has been marred by Conte's public feud with the club's hierarchy over their failure to back his transfer plans, as well as reports that many players have grown exhausted of the intense Italian's demanding training regime.

The FA has placed the names of 137 goalscorers from this season's competition on the Nike Ordem V cup final ball for the 137th edition of the showpiece fixture.

"This is a different kind of feeling. We have six days to change our approach, our desire, our will to fight because we can do much better".

"What I will miss the most is 3 o'clock on a Saturday", he said, "when I've got a microphone in my hand and I've got 90 minutes of football and intense concentration ahead of me". We weren't playing at a high level.

The Brazilian could also have a complete pre-season with Manchester United should he join as he is not part of Brazil's World Cup squad.

"The Cup Final is the Cup Final, it is the pinnacle of the season, and I just hope it lives up to expectations".

"I'll wake up on Wednesday and if I'm in, I'm in. It's just whether they want to use that".
