Spurs must be courageous and back Mauricio Pochettino or risk losing him

The global player has suffered a number of injuries this season which have limited his first team appearances to just 21; Spurs' decent form without him has convinced manager Mauricio Pochettino to sanction selling him as a way to raise funds.

Harry Kane was at his best again as he netted 28 goals while Son Heung-min proved to be their most impressive performer as he netted 18 times.

"I want to say thank-you for their unbelievable support this season", Son told his club's official website.

"Since I arrived here, the players have been fantastic, I've really enjoyed it and hopefully next season with our new stadium we can go one more step". We need to think that our reality is different, because we are not this type of club that will invest insane money.

After being tipped as a contender for the title this season, Spurs found themselves out the running by December.

It was a good job Spurs had already booked their top-four spot as they were second best and only a brilliant stop from Hugo Lloris kept the deficit at one as the France global produced a fine one-handed save to keep out Demarai Gray's effort.

Jose Mourinho is expected to strengthen his squad in order to try and compete with Man City next season and Alderweireld would be a significant upgrade on the likes of Phil Jones and Victor Lindelof. This season, they treaded water somewhat.

Wolves have a solid financial backing and will need players with Premier League experience to make their comeback to the Premier League count. At least, that's Pochettino's view. Generally, you're going into every game with excitement. Maybe we are a bit disappointed and frustrated because now we are close [to trophies].

"I am sure Daniel is going to listen to me and of course we can create together to help the team to move on". But you need to be fearless. It's not important. The most important thing is what the club thinks, not you or the speculation about me. I think it's a moment [where] the club needs to take risks and if possible work harder than the previous year to be competitive'.

"When you have a manager that you know has faith in you, it gives you confidence". Then we will know what we are going to do.
