Premier League transfer window will open a month earlier than usual

16 May 2018

On Monday, Sky Sports said (see below) that their information was that the window would open on Thursday (17 May) and they expected the Premier League to confirm this fact by Wednesday night.

This week, the Premier League will confirm that the transfer window will open early to ensure that they keep in check with Federation Internationale de Football Association regulations that state at least one window per season must be open for 12 weeks.

The windows in those four leagues will close on August 31.

The Premier League agreed last year that from now on they will close the window before the season starts, which this year will see it slam shut on August 9th, to cause less disruption to the league. Federation Internationale de Football Association has set June 9 as the date when worldwide transfers can begin taking place.

'The Premier League has confirmed the transfer window will open at midnight on May 17.

So clubs can sign players from May 17?

Everton, who endured a disappointing season to their standards, will hope to spend more wisely in the transfer window this summer.

Premier League clubs can start splashing the cash on new stars from next week, with the top-flight transfer window set to open a month earlier than usual.

It will close on Thursday, August 9th at 5pm, two days before the start of the new Premier League season. They can also sign free agents up until the same date'.

United are expected to put more focus on UK-based signings having recruited heavily from overseas last summer and centre-back Kyle Bartley remains a prime target despite Swansea City's relegation from the Premier League.

One player dominated the game this year, earning a record 303 points and ensuring that 56.7% of FPL managers had him in their side by the end of the season.

A number of big-money transfers are tipped to go through this summer.

Clubs are able to buy players from any country as long as their own window is open, which means Premier League clubs can still sell players after their window closes on August 9.

What are the windows for other leagues?
