Indiana Pacers coach Nate McMillan, Toronto Raptors coach Dwane Casey, and LeBron James' own coach Ty Lue all speak of him as the Cleveland Cavaliers' "quarterback."This fierce first-round NBA Playoff series with the Pacers, now tied, 2-2, after the Cavs' 104-100 win Sunday night, often seems to devolve into sort of LeBron - "Boo!"
Korver wound up with 18 points and four 3s to give him 200 in his postseason career.
The Pacers made things interesting in the waning seconds of Sunday's Game 4 loss to the Cavaliers. The series is now tied at 2-2. However, after a few minutes, Stephenson was instead given a foul and Green split his two free throw attempts to clinch the win. He made the first despite loud boos and missed the second. He is now the all-time leader in points in the playoffs.
James added 13 rebounds and seven assists in his 100th career playoff game with 30 or more points. James played the entire second half in both Games 3 and 4 out of necessity, with his supporting cast weakened by injuries and inconsistent play. Myles Turner and Victor Oladipo each scored 17.
Cleveland then came roaring back.
The Cavaliers are breathing a sigh of relief after almost losing another game in which they had a big lead. J.R. Smith had 12 points and five boards as a starter while Jordan Clarkson also had 12 points, two rebounds, and one assist coming off the bench.
It remains a maddening trait that has dogged the Cavs for months.
"We had some breakdowns on defense early in the quarter and we can't have that", James said about the third period.
"If I could put my finger on it, we'd change it", James said at shootaround.
IN led 93-91 with 4:28 to go - but managed only four baskets the rest of the way as James and Korver spurred the decisive 10-2 run that gave the Cavs a 101-95 lead with 1:52 left. The Celtics won the two games he scored over 20 points, but lost the two he did not. Their 18 fourth-quarter points were their fewest in any quarter this series. Young scored the Pacers' last four points of the quarter on a rebound tip and a driving dunk.
Despite having seven players score in double figures, making more baskets, grabbing more offensive rebounds and matching Cleveland's 12 3s, in missed six of its last eight shots. At the three-minute mark, James drove to the basket and scored. In the second quarter, Smith went 0-for-3 from the floor, missing three shots from beyond the arc.
Smith didn't hit his next shot until a little under eight minutes left in the third quarter. They made just one out of 10 shot attempts and missed all four of their 3-pointers during a stretch that could ultimately cost them the series.
James called Game 4 a "must-win" and he was right to do so.
Love was sidelined for all but 1:30 of the first quarter after picking up two quick fouls, one on a turnover, another on a charging call.
With Hill out, the Cavs plugged veteran Jose Calderon into the starting lineup less than 48 hours after not even seeing the court.
