Man United on revenge mission against Spurs

21 April 2018

Manchester United head into Saturday's FA Cup semi-final against Tottenham Hotspur needing to keep their hopes of silverware alive to save their season.

United suffered a 2-0 defeat to Spurs at Wembley earlier in the season, but Mourinho insists there will no advantage for the North London outfit.

"Look, I played one Cup final in Roma stadium against Roma and I won, and I play a Cup final in my stadium and I lost", he told a press conference yesterday.

"So I think when you go to this big moments with these big decision, semi-finals, finals, I don't think it's an advantage".

"In some countries the cup semi-final is played home and away, not (in a) neutral ground, like in England".

W2W4 previews the weekend's action by highlighting its most compelling storylines as Manchester United and Tottenham vie for a place in the FA Cup final, Alvaro Morata looks to rediscover his confidence and Liverpool are out for revenge.

'Sometimes it is home, sometimes it is away. I don't feel the pressure so I think we are in a similar level.

The Red Devils won the Europa League and the League Cup in Mourinho's first campaign in charge at Old Trafford.

"Of course, we feel at home", Pochettino said.

"Is it going to change our life?" I don't think it was, but the other guys did 100 points.

"Against Manchester City you have the two goals that people can say "wow, super decisive" - I think he played even better against Bournemouth".

"Until that, win the FA Cup or the League Cup - it will be fantastic for our fans but is not going to move the club to a different level".

"I was champion with Chelsea with 95 points".

To add to the frustrations of the beleaguered boss, speculation over the future of £89 million ($127 million) midfielder Paul Pogba has dominated headlines in recent weeks.Often deemed surplus to requirements by Mourinho this season, Pogba showed what he is capable of by scoring twice to help United temporarily delay City's title party in a thrilling 3-2 Manchester derby win a fortnight ago.

United faced Bournemouth on the South coast on Wednesday night - less than 72 hours before their fixture at Wembley Stadium - and it led to the club arranging a temporary base at the Championship team.
