Police arrest Vasco woman for torturing 8 'adopted' minor girls

She was produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Vasco, on Sunday and remanded to five-day police custody. She was allegedly beaten with belts and rods.

"The accused Habib had adopted eight girls, aged between 11 and 12 years, who were schooling in a reputed school based in the heart of the town", said the investigating police officer Tari.

Police said the victim knew Kuldeep for more than a year. Two teams have been formed to track down the suspect's hideouts and nab him.

The husband of a woman found strangled alongside the body of another man has described her as a "wonderful mother". The neighbours rushed to check what had happened after hearing cries and found the woman on fire, according to the police.

He is charged with felony false imprisonment along with misdemeanor obstructing or hindering persons making emergency telephone call, reckless conduct, battery under the Family Violence Act, probation violation and two counts of cruelty to children in the third degree. Authorities have not provided details on the relationship between the father, the injured woman and White.

On April 9, the woman fled Kuldeep's home and reached her parents' home.
