Redmi 5 To Be Launched In India As An Amazon Exclusive

Manu Kumar Jain, Global Vice President at Xiaomi took to Twitter and revealed that MIUI 9 is now available for all devices as per the promise made by the company.

The MIUI 9 Global Stable ROM for Redmi Note 4 and Mi Max 2 is being released in batches.

The MIUI 9 update will come as an OTA update on compatible devices.

The company has released MIUI 9 Global ROM to Mi Mix 2 (global version), Mi Note 3, Mi MIX, Mi 6, Mi Note 2, Mi Note Pro Mi 5, Mi 5s, Mi 5c Mi 5s Plus, Mi Max 2, Mi Max, Redmi 4/4X, Redmi 2, Redmi 2 Prime, Mi 3, Mi 4, Redmi Note 3 (Qualcomm chipset variant), Redmi Note 3 Special Edition, Redmi Note 4 (MediaTek chipset model), Mi 4i, Mi 4c, Redmi Note 2, Redmi Note Prime, Mi 2, 2S, Mi Note, Redmi 3, 3 Prime, Redmi 3S, 3S Prime and Redmi 4A. The other goodies on board the smartphone are 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.2, IR Blaster, Android Nougat based MIUI 9 and a 3300mAh battery.

Xiaomi is touting three key features for the MIUI 9. In addition to an improved performance, the MIUI 9 update will also provide system optimizations, refreshed user interface, new notifications, and app animations. First, the universal search feature, which will bring a powerful search engine on a Xiaomi phone that can differentiate your image like you do by typing in keywords.

For the ones who are used to flashing their phones, they can download the update from the MIUI forum.

Xiaomi's Redmi 4 is the company's most affordable and successful device in India. The webpage also has a "Notify Me" tab which allows a user to sign up and stay updated with the device announcements. In the software and hardware department, the device comes with an octa-core Snapdragon 450 SoC, which is teamed up with 2GB/3GB/4GB RAM and 16GB/32GB storage space and expandable storage support up to 128GB using a microSD card slot. The camera on Redmi 5 packs a 12-megapixel primary camera with big pixels for better images on the rear and a 5-megapixel front camera for selfies. Redmi 5 is expected to be launched at a price of around Rs 8,000. The Redmi Note 5 runs MIUI 9 out-of-the-box.
