Countdown to Mobile World Congress

25 February 2018

After years of sticking with the same elegant yet dated "OmniBalance" design with substantial top and bottom bezels, Sony is set to finally embrace the bezel-less mania with their new set of Xperia smartphones. The Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus will be the biggest highlights of the MWC exhibition. MWC or Mobile World Congress will see a massive meet-up of telecom companies and of course a show floor teeming with smartphones. HMD Global's launch event will be held on February 25.

HMD Global, the home of Nokia smartphones, is reportedly working on a powerful Nokia flagship smartphone.

The most impressive feature, however, is the color of the Nokia 8110 - it looks suspiciously like a banana given its yellow color and slight curvature. There is a good chance that they will also be the most popular premium Android smartphones of this year. But now we have new information + high quality renders of the Nokia 7 Plus. Some 5,500 CEOs, among them Deutsche Telekom AG's Tim Hoettges and Vodafone Group Plc's Vittorio Colao, will jostle for airtime discussing the major trends shaping the industry such as cybersecurity, the arrival of ultrafast fifth-generation mobile networks and blockchain. Up front, there will be a 16MP camera with ZEISS optics, f/2.0 aperture, and Tetracell technology.

Nokia may be coming up with more than one device perhaps called Nokia 9, Nokia 8 Pro, Nokia 7 and Nokia 4.

Nokia 8 Pro, a renamed Nokia 10?

We have already seen several leaks around it in the past, and now some more press images of the upcoming smartphone have surfaced online. It would have a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. Rumours also claim that Sony might ditch the 3.5mm headphone jack in their new flagship smartphone. Likely to boot with stock Android based on Android 8.0 Oreo, this smartphone from HMD is said to feature OZO Audio and Bothie photo capture mode as well. Companies such as Samsung, Xiaomi and Sony have all confirmed their appearance at MWC 2018. Accompanied by link to a "Zenfone Unveil" countdown for February 27, 7:30pm, it's safe to say that the Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 5 Lite will be showcased. In the invitations sent out last month, Asus hinted the ZenFone 5 series will be announced at the event. Nokia 8 sirocco comes with 128 GB of internal memory which can be expanded by a MicroSD card.

Why all the fuss over Nokia Android phones? The Nokia 7 Plus is expected to feature a 6 inch full HD+ (2160 × 1080 pixels) 2.5D curved glass display with Corning Gorilla glass protection. The AI in the new handset will aim on improving the UI experience, camera experience, and voice recognition.
