Bayern Munich pair up with MLS team FC Dallas

15 February 2018

The deal has been finalized on Tuesday morning, as FC Dallas travels to Arizona for their last full week of preseason games before the CONCACAF Champions League.

"As part of our worldwide strategy, we opened an office in the U.S. in 2014", said Bayern's head of global strategy, Joerg Wacker, in a statement. "Our intention from the beginning has been to help support the growth of soccer in the USA, supporting the existing development of players".

The arrangement with FC Dallas is more focussed on the elite level and providing development opportunities that will also see youth fixtures against one another in their respective countries.

The top-flight clubs will collaborate on coaching, exchanging expertise that helped develop national team players, including Thomas Müller, Mats Hummels, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Kellyn Acosta.

The former Juventus ace joined Bayern Munich in 2015 for a reported £33m.

"The primary goal is to build a youth academy and club of world-class excellence", said Dallas' CEO Clark Hunt.

However, the 30-year-old now looks set to remain at Bayern as long as the club wants him.

Chelsea's £40m investment in Tiemoue Bakayoko hasn't quite gone to plan and the Blues are looking to improve in the midfield so they can mount a stronger challenge for the Premier League title next season.

Bayern Munich goalkeeper Sven Ulreich has signed a three-year contract extension, the Bundesliga leaders said Sunday, and has forced his way into contention for Germany with first-choice Manuel Neuer sidelined.

"We are proud to announce this partnership with FC Dallas, who have pioneered professional soccer in the U.S".
