Bill Polian On Frank Reich: "All The Makings Of A Great Coach"

I imagine he could benefit from some of the expertise that Reich has to offer. He watched. He learned.

Irsay told Polian to go ahead and call Chris Ballard, thus relaying the endorsement of a player Polian had in Buffalo and then later saw him rise on the coaching staffs of Tony Dungy and Jim Caldwell.

Reich paused before playfully retorting: "The backup role has suited me well in my career". "When the quarterback's like that, the team follows", Tasker said. But if he was the right guy, why didn't they get him the first time around?

The Colts are scheduled to introduce Reich during a press conference at Lucas Oil Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.

"The city should be thrilled", Polian gushed Sunday night.

He said Reich never asked about Andrew Lucks health status, noting he only volunteered the medical background at the end of their discussion. The Colts remain a deeply-flawed roster, with holes throughout.

According to Mike Wells of ESPN, Colts general manager Chris Ballard has maintained his position that there's no timetable for Luck's return.

Reich has, in Polian's words, "all the makings of a great coach".

The East Bay Times reports that a woman who has been in a long-term relationship with Foster told officers an assault occurred after an argument. There is, certainly, plenty of work ahead, and the unknowns surrounding Luck's shoulder linger over this franchise like an immovable cloud. That statement could prove very telling.

Reich coached wide receivers in 2011 and left the staff when head coach Jim Caldwell was sacked after that season. When Wentz tore his ACL, everyone outside of Philadelphia put a fork in the Eagles Super Bowl chances. "I said to myself over and over, 'One play at a time'". What his offensive acumen can do for Andrew Luck is another.

Teams often gravitate toward that next young offensive or defensive mind. And they desperately want it to last.

Reich threw a pick six early in the third quarter, putting the Bills in a 35-3 hole.

The 36-year-old played at the University of Mount Union, where he won three Division III national championships (2000-02) as a wide receiver. As his QB coach, Reich watched Rivers set a career-best in completion percentage. Not because the Colts are hiring the offensive coordinator of the Super Bowl champs. "He doesn't get bored with the little things".

Reich spent the two previous seasons as the offensive coordinator for the Eagles, winning the Super Bowl over the New England Patriots this season. Next man up, as they say. By his second year, Wentz was a top candidate for league MVP. Thanks to Reich and the rest of the staff, Nick Foles went from nearly being out of football to a Super Bowl MVP. Dave DeGuglielmo likely will coach the offensive line. He's excelled in that scheme before.

Reich brings not only a Super Bowl ring and a breadth of experience but he brings the ability to develop a quarterback.

"We really feel blessed having Frank as our head coach", added team owner Jim Irsay. He is, by all accounts, one of the true good guys in the NFL. That doesn't necessarily win games, but it does go a long way in calming the storm the Colts found themselves in a week ago. Manning missed all of that season due to injury but Pro Bowler Reggie Wayne and Pierre Garcon both caught more than 70 passes apiece from three different backup quarterbacks.

The Colts were looking for new leadership this winter after firing coach Chuck Pagano after the season.
