SpaceX, founded by Elon Musk has launched its Falcon Heavy rocket, the most powerful rocket in the world. CRAIG BAILEY, FLORIDA TODAY via USA TODAY NETWORK This image from video provided by SpaceX shows the company's spacesuit in Elon Musk's red Tesla sports vehicle which was launched into space.

Landing the first stages is always secondary objective - and the fact that Musk's space company managed to land two of three is a feat in itself.

The much delayed, much maligned rocket is just what the space agency needs to escape from the governmental bureaucracy that has bound her to Low Earth Orbit for the past 45 years.

People in Kharkiv, Kyiv and other cities gathered around screens at home or in pubs and bars to watch as the rocket dashed into space.

"Jon is a world-class leader who brings deep experience as a highly successful entrepreneur and executive", Lyft CEO Logan Green said in an emailed statement.

The Falcon 9 boosters had been used previously for SpaceX missions in 2016 and had been refurbished.

February 7 the Embassy of Ukraine in the U.S. reported on Ukrainian input to the SpaceX rocket historic propelling into space.

Elon Musk's Tesla Roadster is an electric super auto that he selected as "something fun and without irreplaceable sentimental value" by launching it into space on the maiden demonstration flight of the Falcon Heavy rocket. Now The Tesla is currently in orbit while playing David Bowie's legendary track about space travel.

SpaceX streamed Starman live on YouTube.

While the change of route could look embarrassing for SpaceX, it might also encourage more private companies to enlist its services. Tesla will also start investing this year to add production of the Model Y, a small electric crossover that will be the next vehicle in its lineup.

In a letter to shareholders, Musk said it has been hard to get accurate forecasts for the auto, a more affordable model for the automaker known for expensive vehicles. Still, Musk said he is "cautiously optimistic" that Tesla will be profitable this year.

"It will most likely be at the Brownsville location", he said, "because its got a lot of land with nobody around, so if it blows up, its cool".
