American Idol Contestant Leah LaBelle, Husband Killed In Studio City Car Crash

02 February 2018

Former American Idol contestant Leah LaBelle and her husband, ex-NBA player Rasual Butler, died in a Los Angeles vehicle crash on January 31.

Los Angeles police said in a statement that Butler was speeding before his vehicle jumped a curb, hit three parking meters and a concrete wall and then flipped over twice. He played for several teams, including the Chicago Bulls, the San Antonio Spurs, the Los Angeles Clippers and the Washington Wizards. What I don't question is how much you loved God, how much you love your life partner and where you guys are now.

After her stint on American Idol, she went on successful career as a singer and signed as an artist with Epic Records.

'Leah & Rasual (one of my closest friends and her incredible partner), Bryanna (my step sister) and Q (my little cousin), you were such bright lights in this insane world'.

The 34-year-old Keeping Up With The Kardashians star, who was evicted from the Celebrity Big Brother house earlier in the week, took to Twitter to share a post in honour of the duo, as she shared: "Rest easy to the couple". Several members shared their grief on Twitter, including LaBelle's fellow Season 3 finalists and eventual victor, Fantasia Barrino, as well as former "Idol" judge Paula Abdul. In 2012, LaBelle's song "Sexify" reached the 89th spot on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and peaked at No. 23 on the Adult R&B Songs airplay chart.

EX-NBA player Rasual Butler posted a touching social media message praising his daughter just days before he and his American Idol star wife were killed in a horror crash.

Dwyane Wade, Butler's former Miami Heat teammate, tweeted: "Come on man".

"This one hurts. Lost a good dude". Before launching into her performance of Whitney Houston's "I Believe in You and Me", Leah shared that her family originates from Bulgaria and that their love for music has allowed them opportunities to travel all over the world.
