Trump Declares Collusion Between Democrats And Russians During Joint Press Conference

13 January 2018

The tweet came the day after Senator Dianne Feinsten released a transcript of a Senate committee's interview with the firm that commissioned a "dossier" of allegations related to Trump's ties to Russian Federation. Fusion GPS is the research firm that commissioned the controversial dossier of allegations regarding Trump's ties to Russian officials during the 2016 campaign.

"We certainly think it's a gross overstep by Senator Feinstein to release that transcript", Huckabee-Sanders said Thursday.

Besides Bannon, Schiff said those witnesses would include Trump's daughter Ivanka. Dianne Feinstein released an interview transcript from the committee's investigation over the objections of Chairman Chuck Grassley, saying she was frustrated by Republican attempts to undermine the investigation.

Rep. Adam Schiff, the ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, said Thursday that Republicans are blocking dozens of witnesses from being interviewed in the Russian Federation probe, including some who were aware of the 2016 Trump Tower meeting where Donald Trump Jr. was promised dirt on the Clinton campaign.

Numerous congressional committees along with special counsel Robert Mueller are now investigating Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election and possible collusion between Trump's team and Moscow during the race.

The GOP has agreed to bring in a handful of witnesses so far this year, including former senior Trump aide Steve Bannon, who is expected before the panel next week.

Even though the committee has interviewed almost all the participants in the Trump Tower meeting, Schiff says there are additional witnesses "who knew the subject" of the Trump Tower meeting that need to be interviewed.

And in a odd attempt to somehow prove he is independent of Russian Federation and President Putin, Trump told reporters, "I am for massive oil and gas and everything else.Putin can't love that".

Schiff noted that the choice of witnesses is determined by panel Republicans - who control the committee - some of whom he accused of trying to stall, or possibly shut down, the investigation, possibly to distract from the investigation of Trump. The House interviews are done by lawmakers, and often run for much of the day. Mark Warner, D-Va., have worked closely together as panel staff has quietly interviewed more than 100 witnesses.

Schiff blamed House intelligence committee chairman Devin Nunes, R-Calif, who stepped aside from the probe for several months while the House Ethics Committee investigated whether Nunes had divulged classified information. But his investigation has already resulted in Trump's former national security adviser, Michael Flynn, pleading guilty to lying to the FBI about conversations with Russia's ambassador.

"The Committee is working to develop well-supported findings that will help protect the 2018 elections against hacking and other potential disruptions by foreign powers", said Jack Langer, a spokesman for Nunes.
