Wisconsin moves to 9-7 overall, 2-1 in Big Ten play, while the struggling Hoosiers fall to 8-7 and 1-2 in conference play.
The Badgers had no trouble getting past the Massachusetts-Lowell River Hawks in their last contest, 82-53.
Juwan Morgan ended 2017 with an awesome December and will look to transition that into January. Juwan Morgan is averaging 15.3 points and 7.2 rebounds per game to lead IN while Robert Johnson is adding 12.6 points per contest. Juwan Morgan followed close behind with 17 points and 4 rebounds. His quick feet and scoring ability will be key for an IU victory against the Badgers.
Zach McRoberts has been a main contributor for the Hoosiers in the last 5 games on the rebounding and defensive side. 14 of those have come in the last 5 games. The game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. ET on Tuesday, January 2, 2018. McRoberts has become one of the Hoosier's biggest defensive assets. That's why it was critical for the Badgers to figure out how to win at home against an average IN team on Tuesday night. On the season, Newkirk is only averaging 8.3 per game, but has been on a bit of a hot streak in the past few games. For Indiana to be successful, he will need to be dialed in from deep and hit big shots for the Hoosiers.
Ethan Happ is Mr. The 6'10 forward is averaging 16.4 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game.
How it happened: Wisconsin, which already had three home losses by double digits this season, looked vulnerable going into this game. Even more, Happ has made 34 of 47 shots from the field in those four games.
For the past two decades, the Kohl Center has been a house of horrors for IU. But the Hoosiers ended up falling to 0-4 this season on the road. The Wisconsin Badgers are allowing 36.8 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 29.5 rebounds per game.
In Pritzl's absence, redshirt freshman forward Aleem Ford provided a nice boost, nailing 3-of-6 three pointers for nine points.
Happ continued to cause problems.
December 23rd: WIn vs. The Badgers are also 1-1 in the Big Ten and 5-8-1 against the spread. It was a good start, bad finish for the Hoosiers who jumped out to a five point first half lead behind the hot shooting of fifth-year senior Collin Hartman. IN is grabbing 38.2 rebounds per gam. Even though IN is out rebounding opponents, they have been allowing 34.1 per game.
But that's not what got coach Archie Miller's attention. This could be a good matchup for them to do so.
Ball handling is at the top of the to-do list for the Hoosiers, and it still hasn't been done. In the win over Youngstown State, they committed 15 turnovers. On the season, IN is averaging 12.9 turnovers per game.
WHO WAS THERE: Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers watched the game alongside two-time U.S. Open golf champion and Madison native Andy North. "They just had energy amongst each other".
