After the Montecito mudslides caused major destruction, with at least 15 deaths reported in the area, to Ellen DeGeneres' neighborhood, the daytime host took a moment during her Thursday show to FaceTime with neighbor Oprah Winfrey as they shared emotional updates post-mudslide.

Actor and Montecito resident Rob Lowe posted his condolences to the victims of the mudslides on his Twitter page.

Oprah shared what her own home looked like during the call and also showed around her neighbourhood area.

"It's devastating. We've lost so many lives and it's a tiny community and nobody would've expected, certainly, I did not, that after we survived the fire and the rain came. We never had medicine growing up and he lived to be 92". "And he lived to be 92".

On her talk show, DeGeneres said that the picturesque town of 9,000 is a "tight-knit" community. "I'm standing right now in, still, a lot of mud but not as much mud as yesterday. That's me when I was, I don't know how old I was, but I do remember that picture", she said, referencing a black-and-white image of herself and her father that displayed on the screen. "So he was really proud of that", she said.

Before he passed away, she was able to get in one last phone call, and when she left the studio she saw a rainbow. "This looks photoshopped", she said, referencing a photo shared with audiences of a large rainbow above the Warner Bros. building.

Singer Seal has lashed out at media mogul Oprah Winfrey following her inspirational Golden Globes speech, claiming she knew about the rumors surrounding Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein but did nothing. "I think my brother Vance and I got our sense of humor from him".
