Unbeaten Central Florida stakes claim to national title

05 January 2018

"Like other football programs do all across the country, you claim a national championship, you're the only undefeated team in a season, we're going to hang a banner". "Looking at research and what's happened across college football through the years, there's tons of examples where there's a dispute on one or two or three teams, even four teams in some years some years that feel like they have claim to a national championship".

Central Florida took its "championship tour" to a new level Wednesday by announcing a weekend parade through Disney World, which is located just miles from campus.

UCF finished the 2017 season with a 13-0 record and capped off the campaign with a win over Auburn in Monday's Peach Bowl.

UCF is the only college football team in the country that finished with a flawless season.

White has caught a lot of flak for his insistence on declaring the Knights national champions, with critics citing an AAC schedule that doesn't stand up to the rigors of the Power 5 conferences. Schools such as Alabama and Oklahoma State have notoriously gone back into the 1940s - the "wire service era", as it were - to retroactively claim championships in years where more than one team was recognized as the national champion based on best historical data available.

A parade will be held for the team at Disney's Magic Kingdom on Sunday The football team, cheerleaders and the marching band will make their way down Main Street, 4:30 p.m.

UCF coaches are going to get paid like they won the national title. Where else would a champion go?

The school obviously is still feeling the burn of being snubbed from the College Football Playoff. Dyer will also present the team with a key to the City. The BCS era was much more accurate for how teams were ranked, more objective, and I don't think the playoff is adequate to determine a true national champion.
