David Cassidy cut daughter Katie Cassidy out of his will

08 December 2017

Katie was raised by her mother, former model Sherry Williams, and stepfather Richard Benedon.

"It is my specific intent not to provide any benefits to Katherine Evelyn Cassidy and/or any descendant of Katherine Evelyn Cassidy", the will states, according to the site.

Cassidy died of liver and kidney failure, but suffered from dementia in the years leading up to his death.

David Cassidy (R) and his daughter Katie Cassidy arrive at the 9th annual Family Television Awards held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, November 28, 2007. David's three half-siblings will receive anything declared as "music memorabilia".

It is important to point out that the will was filed in 2004 and David shared a tumultuous relationship with Katie, an actress best known for her portrayal of Laurel Lance, the alter ego of Black Canary on The CW's Arrow.

David Cassidy, a musician, and star of the popular 70s sitcom, Partridge Family, has deliberately left his daughter, actress Katie Cassidy, out of his will.

Katie rushed to be at her father's bedside when he was hospitalised. The 67-year-old singer was estranged from Katie Cassidy for several years, though they had reconciled before his death, and so his legal arrangements reflected the distance between them, leaving his $150,000 assets to son Beau.

But David and his daughter revealed in an interview with People earlier this year that he was merely her father by biology.

"She has a completely different life", he told the magazine.

In February, Cassidy told People he hadn't played a big role in her life and admitted they weren't in contact. "I'm proud of her", he says. "She's very talented. It's hard for me to even accept how old she is now, like 30".

After Cassidy's passing, Katie took to Twitter to thank her fans for their well-wishes.

"My father's last words were "so much wasted time". For example, he reached out to her for help (and promoted her then-show Gossip Girl) when he was on the Celebrity Apprentice in 2011.
