Airtel partners with Intex for Rs.1649-smartphone

As per the specifications, JioPhone comes with a 2.4-inch display with a 240x320 pixel resolution. It is backed by a 1750mAh battery and is powered by a 1.3 GHz Quad-core processor with 1GB RAM and 8GB ROM. Offering an external storage support up to 64GB, it has a 5MP rear camera and a 2MP front facing snapper. Sensors on the phone include Proximity sensor, Accelerometer and Ambient light sensor. The 8 MP main camera and a 5 MP secondary camera is also an upgrade over other two models with a user replaceable 2450 mAh Li-ion battery. Airtel has launched the new devices under its "Mera Pehla Smartphone" initiative.

The phone comes with a 4-inch full-touch WVGA and is powered by a Mediatek chipset paired with 1GB of RAM and 8GB internal storage. The rear camera is of 2-megapixel and a 0.3-megapixel camera on the front.

The Intex Aqua A4 comes at an effective price of Rs 1,999, compared to the market price of Rs 4,999). Airtel is selling these three phones at effective prices starting at Rs 1649.

Airtel has quite recently declared their new offer for 4G mobiles, which additionally brings down the barrier, and makes 4G mobiles much more open and significantly less price.

The ₹1,649 rupees priced Intex Aqua Lion N1 comes with a price tag of ₹3,799 (market price), however, as a bundle, a user can get the device for just ₹3,149 and has to recharge a combo plan worth ₹169, which offers free 512 MB 4G data per day with free voice and SMS. But, later - which is after 3 years - Airtel a promise to refund back Rs 1500. Customers will need to make a down payment of Rs 3,149 for the handset, followed by 36 monthly recharges of Rs 169.

In case, if a customer does not wish to opt for the Rs 169 bundled plan, she/he has the flexibility of doing recharges of any denomination and validity as per individual requirements. However, to claim the cash refund benefit, recharges worth Rs 3000 must be done within the first 18 months (to claim the first refund installment of Rs 500) and another Rs 3000 over the next 18 months (to claim the second refund installment of Rs 1000). People willget a refund of Rs 500 after 18 months, and another Rs 1000 after completion of 36 months.

The customer would not be required to return the device to either party to claim the cash benefit, the company said. It is noteworthy that JioPhone comes at an effective price of Rs 0.

Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio is offering an Internet- enabled feature phone for a refundable deposit of ₹ 1,500.
