Las Vegas massacre survivor killed in hit-and-run tragedy seven weeks later

27 November 2017

A Nevada man who survived the Las Vegas shooting was killed in a hit-and-run vehicle accident one month later, according to reports.

Roy McClellan, 52, was walking along a roadway in Pahrump, about 60 miles west of Las Vegas, on November 17 when he was hit by a Chevrolet Camaro, CNN reported citing the Nevada Highway Patrol.

"I feel that he was under the influence of something, or drunk and didn't want to get caught", she said.

A Las Vegas man who survived the October 1 mass shooting that killed 58 people was killed by a hit-and-run driver while hitchhiking, his wife says. "[My husband] doesn't deserve that", Denise McClellan added.

Mrs McClellan said her husband was still heavily affected by the shooting where he rushed to help people while his wife hid in a metal container."It was really messing with his head and he was going to therapy", she explained.

"Those who knew him know he had his battles but also knew he had a big heart", she wrote.

Investigators have located the auto involved in the crash and criminal charges against the driver are pending. But according to KSNV-TV, Roy McClellan was walking on the highway, which is illegal.

Almost two months after the 1 October tragedy a group of survivors and first responder gathered together to give thanks for escaping the violence with their lives.

The 52-year-old's death comes close to a month after two other Las Vegas survivors, Dennis and Lorraine Carver, died in a auto crash less than a mile from their California home, according to CNN. She told KSNV, "This isn't what I wanted for him".

"That's just the kind of love they had for each other", Brooke Carver, the couple's oldest daughter, told the local news outlet.
