Bright someone's Christmas (and your own) by fulfilling an Angel Tree wish

21 November 2017

The Gravenhurst Salvation Army launched its 2017 Christmas Kettle Campaign fundraiser on November 17 at Canadian Tire.

Last year, CPB collected more than $158,000 in monetary and gift donations for the Angle Tree program.

The Salvation Army is always looking for volunteer bell ringers to help take shifts and fill a site.

"Today is the kickoff to really start the Christmas and holiday season".

Alabama News Network has launched its fourth annual Magical Christmas Toy Drive to benefit The Salvation Army in Montgomery.

From July to September this year, more than 10,000 people needed help with food parcels alone - an eight per cent increase on the same time last year - and Christmas is expected to be even busier.

The red kettles holding those donations this year will serve the people of Mahaska County.

The Prince George Salvation Army has chose to not hoist its annual Tree of Lights on top of the Coast Inn of the North this year.

Breedlove then introduced Capt. Chris Lyles, who moved to the area with his wife, Elisa, also an officer in The Salvation Army, in June.

"We will be operating kettles at Canadian Tire, LCBO, Sobeys and Terry's Independent Grocer on Fridays and Saturdays, and during the final week leading up to Christmas", said Lt. Kam Robinson.

The fundraising goal this season is $30,000.

He assures the Tree Lights will continue for years to come and they were just unfortunate to find a spot in time for the holidays.

"The campaign ends on December 23, so we have a little over a month to make this happen", Lyles said.
