"So when Bill called and said they claimed me, I was like, 'No (expletive) way'".

"I felt like I should get the surgery".

On Instagram, Bennett claimed that the Packers knew of his worsening shoulder injury but tried to get him to continue to play.

Bennett insists that his departure from the Green Bay Packers wasn't about the franchise but was due to his shoulder issue. Bennett was picked up by the Patriots, with whom he won a Super Bowl last season, and then made some serious allegations about Green Bay's team doctor.

The Patriots claimed Bennett on Thursday. Bennett was listed as questionable because of the shoulder, but is active and joins Rob Gronkowski, Dwayne Allen and Jacob Hollister at tight end in Denver on Sunday night.

That's pricey, but New England can release him this offseason without any guaranteed money affecting their future salary cap. "I came into this league wide-eyed and bushy-tailed and thought that everything was going to be given to me", Allen said.

His immediate future is still up in the air, but if he does play with New England, he will look to find his form from a year ago when he tallied a career-high seven touchdown catches with the Patriots.

"I think the group of guys on this team couldn't be a better place for me to, with what I'm going through right now, this situation, it couldn't be a better place for me, all the familiar faces and friends and things like that", he said.

In the Patriots' 41-16 win over the Denver Broncos on Sunday, Brady hit Allen for a 11-yard touchdown reception. "At this point, it's nothing else anyone can say to me in my career that could make me feel any way toward myself".

Bennett said that response from former teammates didn't bother him. "Hopefully we can keep building on it". The club waives defensive lineman Geneo Grissom to create a roster spot for the veteran tight end, but later brings him back to the fold on its practice squad.
